Business Chamber welcomes release of ACT Government’s Small Business Strategy 2023-2026

The Canberra Business Chamber has welcomed the announcement of the ACT Government’s strategy for small business for 2023-2026.

“It’s good news that the ACT Government recognises the importance of small businesses in driving the economy of the ACT forward, and the Small Business Strategy 2023-2026 released today incorporates feedback provided by the Canberra Business Chamber and business community over recent months,” Greg Harford, Canberra Business Chamber Chief Executive said today.

“There are around 33,000 small businesses in the territory, employing more than 81,000 Canberrans, and these small businesses really are the lifeblood of Canberra, keeping communities vibrant. The Canberra Business Chamber has long been concerned at the regulatory burden facing business, the complexity of doing business with multiple government departments, and the challenges of getting government representatives to understand the operations of small business.”

“The Canberra Business Chamber is particularly supportive of moves to take a one-government approach to business, support the development of micro credentials, and improve procurement processes. The Chamber is looking forward to working constructively with the Government on implementing the strategy as rapidly and as effectively as possible.”
