About our Skills and Inclusion Program

The Skills and Inclusion Program was delivered by the Chamber between 2022 to 2026 to help improve employment opportunities for people with disability and support businesses to create more inclusive workplaces.Through practical resources, events, employer engagement and partnerships, the program focused on building employer confidence, increasing awareness and helping to break down attitudinal barriers to employing people with disability.

While the funded program has now concluded, the resources and information developed through the program remain available through the Skills and Inclusion Hub.

What has the Chamber delivered?

The program has been running since 2022, and in that time we have helped build employer capacity to employ people with disabilities by delivering:

A dedicated Skills & Inclusion Hub with practical employer resources.

Panel discussions and workshops on creating diverse and inclusive workplaces.

The Disability Action Plan Pledge supporting businesses to improve workplace inclusion.

Work experience opportunities connecting people with disability with local businesses.

Regular Podcasts sharing practical insights on disability-inclusive employment.

Pathways to Construction program, delivered practical trade skills and employer connections.

Pathways to Employment Program delivered work experience to young people with disabilities.

Videos highlighting the benefits of employing people with disability.

Stronger connections between employers and disability employment providers.

A directory of Disability Employment Service providers to help businesses access support.

Improved accessibility of the Canberra Business Chamber website.

Ongoing social media promotion around inclusive workplaces.

The program received funding from the Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing.
