Why is it beneficial to your business to employ People with Disability?

In the latest quarterly Business Beat, 41 per cent of businesses reported difficulty in attracting and retaining staff. With the ACT recording the lowest unemployment rate in Australia just 3.4 per cent) – it might be time for your business to tap into new talent pools.
Did you know that around 80,000 people with disability living in the ACT? That’s 19.4 per cent of the population, or 1 in 5 people, many of whom are ready and able to contribute to your workplace but often face barriers in finding employment.
To help businesses navigate this opportunity, the Canberra Business Chamber has been running a webinar series on employing people with disability facilitated by Frances Riggs, Access and Inclusion Consultancy Manager at GetAboutAble.
This series includes three key modules:
1. Introduction to Accessibility and Inclusion in the Workplace – understanding the basics of creating an inclusive environment.
2. Developing a Disability Action and Inclusion Plan – practical steps to help your business move forward with inclusion.
3. Challenging Myths and Exploring Customised Employment – debunking common misconceptions and featuring a panel discussion with individuals sharing their living experiences in the job market.
We encourage you to watch the third webinar for valuable insights.
