Video Shows Canberra is the Business

Canberra Convention Bureau and Brand CBR have today launched a video promoting the region as the number one choice when it comes to business events.

“Canberra’s reputation as a knowledge hub, it’s access to government and decision makers, make it an ideal host city for conferences,” said Canberra Convention Bureau Chief Executive, Michael Matthews. “We also have great cuisine and caterers, beautiful outdoor spaces and are central to so many parts of Australia.”

The video highlights the Canberra Region’s status as the academic and political heart of Australia. It will be widely shared to market all the national capital can offer those looking for a location for their next business event.

“Canberra offers much more than people might think,” Chair of the CBR Brand Strategic Advisory Board, Tania Parkes said. “We wanted the video to tell our story. It reminds viewers we are home to the cultural institutions that are the custodians of Australia’s stories and asks them to reflect on how inspiring and impressive holding a dinner or meeting in one of these attractions would be.

“Here business events have access to some of the country’s most well-known and respected thought-leaders and influencers, researchers and academics, providing an almost limitless pool of sought after speakers, potential networks, and guests.”

The new video is designed to place Canberra’s ‘Brilliant Possibilities’ at the forefront of people’s minds when planning a business event. The video was produced by local award winning television and production company, Screencraft.

It focuses on business events as these draw delegates to the Region who may not otherwise visit. Business visitors make an important contribution to the ACT economy and tourism sector through their relatively high level of spending and extended stays, as well as capacity to generate return visits and referrals.

In 2015-16, Canberra Convention Bureau delivered business events with an estimated economic impact of over $45 million for the region. Many of these events are new business for the region and attract thousands of delegates providing city wide economic benefits.

“It is well established that business events provide substantial and positive economic benefits to the Canberra region” Mr Matthews said.

“Working with Brand CBR on this new destination video has allowed us to leverage our strong brand assets to increase national and global awareness of Canberra’s attributes as a leading business events destination.
