Make sure you buy local this year, is the message from the Canberra Business Chamber with just one week remaining until Christmas day and holiday shopping moving into top gear.
“Sourcing your Christmas gifts and holiday supplies from ACT business is extra important this year,” according to Canberra Business Chamber CEO Graham Catt.
“Not only will you be helping to keep many businesses afloat, but every dollar you spend will also be ensuring that more of our fellow Canberrans can keep their jobs and face 2021 with renewed confidence.
“This time last year many retailiers were dealing with smoke pollution that forced closures and impacted their ability to look after customers. Plenty of these businesses are still doing it tough, and your support now can make all the difference to their future.”
There are about 30,000 local businesses in the ACT, who currently employing 60% of working Canberrans.
According to Mr Catt, there are plenty of ways in which we can all help.
“There are still plenty of the ChooseCBR discount vouchers provided by the ACT government, available giving customers an incentive to shop at and support local businesses across Canberra. The vouchers are available until 21st December and you can seach online for businesses that accept them.
“We’ve all appreciated the way our local businesses have looked after their customers and communities this year. It has been a tough year for so many dealing with fires, smoke pollution, hail storms and the global Covid pandemic. Let’s spread the festive cheer.”
