Chamber hosts Diplomatic Business Connections Gala Dinner to connect local businesses with the world

Canberra Business Chamber will hold its highly successful Diplomatic Business Connections Gala Dinner tonight at the Hyatt Hotel, with representatives from 38 embassies and high commissions, joining 150 ACT business leaders and government officials to explore opportunities for stronger trade and business connections.

The Diplomatic Business Connections Gala Dinner is a unique, must attend event on the ACT trade and business calendar, and makes a comeback in 2023 after a three-year hiatus due to the COVID pandemic.

“Trade Missions and companies travel overseas to access new markets, but this event taps into the amazing resource we have here right on our doorstep,” Canberra Business Chamber CEO Graham Catt said.

“Canberra is home to around 80 embassies and high commissions, and tonight diplomats from all around the world will come together with the ACT’s business sector to explore opportunities for stronger trade and business connections.”

The event fosters relationships between businesses and the diplomatic community to help them make connections that develop new trade and business opportunities. It also helps pave the way for businesses who are seeking to access international markets, but don’t necessarily know where to start.

“Canberra Region businesses are successfully exporting goods and services around the world,” Graham Catt said. “This is an opportunity to highlight the many Canberra SME’s who are world leaders in their industries and have adapted, innovated, and changed their operating models over the past few years to create new opportunities in global markets.”

“Trade has always been a powerful way of bringing people together and creating relationships. Tonight, we also welcome diplomatic staff more fully into our community. We hope networks are formed not only professionally but also socially so embassy staff can feel more engaged and included during their time in Australia.”

The event is presented in partnership with Hyatt Hotel Canberra, the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the ACT Government through the Chamber’s International Business Engagement program.
