ASPEN Medical named Australian Exporter of the Year
Canberra-based Aspen Medical and South Australia’s SEAPA could not be separated by the judges and both took out the title of Australian Exporter of the Year at last night’s ceremony at the Arboretum.
A multiple winner of the ACT Exporter of the Year Award, in just 15 years Aspen Medical has become a global provider of guaranteed, innovative and tailored healthcare solutions.
Today Aspen Medical operates across Australia, the Pacific, Africa, the Middle East, Canada, the United Kingdom and the USA. It was selected by the Commonwealth to coordinate Australia’s response to the West Africa Ebola crisis.
“Canberra Business Chamber congratulates Aspen Medical on this honour,” Canberra Business Chamber Chair, Archie Tsirimokos praised. “Aspen is a leading example of the many Canberra firms making a name for themselves on the world stage.
“We may not be the largest jurisdiction, but the ACT has established itself as an incubator for innovative companies who are carving a significant niche for themselves as education, technology, defence, cybersecurity and service exporters.
“As a result, the ACT has been outstripping the other states when it comes to average annual goods and services export growth in recent years.
Aspen Medical also took out the Health and Biotechnology category at the National Awards.
“While they may not realise it, thanks to Aspen Medical people and communities around Australia and the world, who might otherwise miss out, have access to quality health care services, such as primary care, emergency services, paramedics and more.
“Aspen Medical manages the Remote Area Health Corps which places health professionals in remote Indigenous communities in the Northern Territory; has provided ambulance services in Maverick County, Texas; and delivered primary healthcare and surgery clinics to Australian Federal Police and Australian Defence Force personnel serving overseas.
“All of the ACT winners were highly competitive in their categories and we are pleased to see the achievements of Canberra firms being recognised.”
